What Is Chiropractic Care?

By Dr. Jonathan Urshan, D.C. Longwood, FL

The term "Chiropractic" comes from the Greek words "cheiro and praktikos" meaning "done by hand." Chiropractic care is centered on the philosophy that the human body has the ability to heal itself when it is given the right opportunity and circumstances.

The chiropractic profession is the most popular natural health care choice in the United States. Chiropractic healthcare is a branch of the healing arts that offers the public a natural drugless approach to improving the health and function of the human body.

Chiropractic care is based on the scientific fact that the nervous system controls and coordinates the function of every cell, tissue, and organ in the body.

Interference to the nervous system causes the body to malfunction and develop symptoms. The spine, when unhealthy, is the most common structural cause of interference to the nervous system. This is called a vertebral (spinal) subluxation.

When you have subluxations in your spine, the spinal bones cause an interference to your nervous system. Chiropractors locate the areas of the spine that are subluxated and perform adjustments (treatments) to heal the subluxations and remove the interference to the nervous system.

What makes chiropractic care different is the approach to your health problem. As a chiropractor, I am trying to heal your health conditions and improve the overall health of your body. I am not trying to merely cover up your symptoms.

My approach to your health is to heal the cause of your health problems, improve your overall health, and then work to keep you as healthy as possible for the rest of your life.

Spinal Decompression

By Dr. Jonathan Urshan Longwood, FL

Dear Friend,

If you're like most of the patients we see today, you suffer from back pain, neck pain, or hip and leg pain. And chances are you've probably already tried many different treatments, like pain pills, injections, rest, stretches, exercises, physical rehab, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, and maybe even surgery. And if you're like most people, nothing's worked. You still suffer with pain and your quality of life is not what it used to be.

This is not surprising since scientific research shows that most pain-relieving treatments aren't very effective at treating back or neck pain at all.

In my search for a better way to help patients with back and neck pain, I came across a new treatment system for the back and neck. It is safe, drugless, and comfortable. It's called spinal decompression.

I've found spinal decompression to be an excellent treatment for the discs and low back. I've personally been able to help hundreds of patients get out of pain and enjoy a pain free lifestyle.

What you need to know is that most back pain is caused by injury or damage to the discs. The discs are the cushions in between all of the spinal bones. When there is damage to the discs, it can lead to pain, sciatica, muscle stiffness and a host of other symptoms. The problem has always been finding a way to heal discs without doing something invasive like injections or surgery.

Spinal decompression solves that problem. Spinal decompression allows you to eliminate pain and heal your back without surgery or injections.

Let's talk a little bit more about the discs in your spine. Unlike other structures in your body, discs don't have a good blood supply, so once they are damaged, they don't heal well. Once a disc gets injured, torn, or starts to degenerate, it loses its hydration and starts to become brittle and dry. This leads to further damage and pain.

The DRX9000 spinal decompression system that we have in our office is a treatment that allows you to gently and safely put tension in the lower back or neck to create what's called a "negative pressure" inside the injured discs. This negative pressure creates a vacuum effect that actually draws the bulging or "slipped" disc material back to its normal position. It also brings fluid into the disc to help it re-hydrate and heal.

Unlike other treatments, spinal decompression actually makes the discs healthier. Medication and injections only cover up the pain but do nothing to actually heal the spine and discs.

Spinal decompression has been a great addition to my practice. For more information, call our office and schedule a free consultation and office tour. I'll show you the DRX9000, we can talk about the problems you are having, and I'll personally answer any questions that you have. I'd love to help!

Sincerely,

Dr. Jonathan Urshan, D.C.

What Is A Subluxation?

By Dr. Jonathan Urshan, D.C. Longwood, FL Subluxation is a word commonly used in chiropractic offices. But what does it mean?

A subluxation is a condition where there is a misalignment or a loss of motion of one or more of the bones in the spine, causing a problem with the nerve(s) in that area. Subluxations create interference to the nerve signals, causing the body to malfunction.

Subluxations destroy the ability of the brain and body to properly communicate with one another, resulting in a loss of health. They can have devastating effects on your quality of life.

When the nervous system is malfunctioning because of spinal subluxations, the normal communication pathways are interrupted and the nerve system no longer has the ability to function properly.

Your body performs worse at every level.

Your immune system weakens, your strength and coordination is negatively affected, your emotional state can be altered, your organs may not function normally, and you could experience a constant state of pain, stiffness, lack of flexibility, stress, fatigue, and many other symptoms.

Subluxations, just like cavities, cancer, and many other diseases can start out PAINLESS.

And if they are left uncorrected, they continue to get worse.

If you have areas in your spine that are subluxated, and they are interfering with the normal function of your nervous system, you cannot have optimal health.

Because your nervous system controls your entire body, if it isn’t working correctly, it is impossible for your body to be working correctly.

That’s why having a healthy spine is so important.

It’s my job to restore health to the areas of your spine that have subluxations.. It’s my job to make sure your nerve system is as healthy as possible. It’s my job to not only get you out of pain when you hurt, but also keep your body as healthy as possible.
